SHY PUMA is a London-based artist whose sound captures the essence of nostalgia, dreaminess, and raw vulnerability. Born in Milan to an Egyptian family, she moved to London to study music, earning a BMus in Vocal Performance, deepening her craft and honing the skills that would later define her unique sound.
After more than a decade as a session vocalist, honing her craft behind the scenes, SHY PUMA stepped into the spotlight with her debut EP Don’t Rush Me in November 2024. Drawing inspiration from the neo-soul icons Erykah Badu and D’Angelo as well as contemporary voices like Nick Hakim, MARO, and Lianne La Havas, SHY PUMA creates music that blends soulful melodies with electronic textures in a way that feels both fresh and timeless, music that resonates with intimacy and emotional depth while defying easy genre boundaries. Her music is marked by lush delayed vocal layering, hypnotic grooves, and lyrics that blend self awareness and vulnerability, often exploring themes of self-acceptance, doubt, longing, and transformation. The release introduced her unique blend of alternative R&B, psychedelic tones, and heartfelt storytelling, and was followed by a sold-out headline show at Servant Jazz Quarters in December 2024.
In May 2025, she released Omen, a single that drew critical acclaim: described by Cage Riot as “a masterclass in vocal elegance, emotional depth, and atmospheric production” and praised by Parkett.it as “a stunning piece of electronic pop that refuses to settle for genre clichés or emotional platitudes.”
Her latest single, Gambler (September 2025), reveals a new, playful yet cutting dimension to her artistry. Built on hip hop-inspired grooves and dreamy psychedelia, the track meditates on risk, regret, and the irony of losing everything when you have nothing to lose, before opening into the fragile hope of its outro: “I might win it all.”
Since the release of her EP, SHY PUMA has performed at Pizza Express Live Chelsea, London and in September 2025 she headlined Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney, London. She is currently working on her second EP, further expanding her sound and cementing her place as one of London’s most exciting emerging voices.
